Games!

I finally bought Settlers of Catan yesterday. I figured we have been wanting it for ages, and it was my birthday, so what the heck.  We went to check out the new game store in town and see if they had the space/were willing to host the occasional game night for this new group of geeky ladies I am apparently organizing to do such things.  And they do/are.  So YAY! Gaming place!  Also, it turns out the the owner is an old friend of the hubband, so that was cool!

In related news, I am being abandoned for Table Top day.  The original plan was D&D, but due to it being the end of the semester, that got put off.  Then it was going to be board games (probably Risk) with whoever was left.  But my very helpful hubby is going to help someone move instead, so now it is just me sitting in my apartment with the baby and hoping one or two of the few friends I invited will come by. Which I highly doubt.  Table Top day is a great idea, but Easter weekend might not have been the best kick off.  A lot of people are busy or out of town.

I think I will instead remake my angel deck for Magic. The last set had some great angels, and my current deck is a little bulky and slow, so it is time to update! I wonder if I can teach Jane to play yet...  with cheap edible cards of course...  Probably not. :-)

Anyway, on my way out the door to meet said Geeky Ladies and plan our awesome future events!

Same old stuff

Wow.  Okay.  I haven't posted in awhile.  There hasn't really been much going on the last month or so worth talking about here.

I got new glasses.  Wooo.

We are doing another round of desperately trying to change something so someone will buy our apartment. There will eventually be laminate flooring instead of carpet, and we took out the TV since we do all our watching of things online anyway.  There are no longer any (grown up) books in this place. Why I am even still living here?  Oh right.  ebook reader.

Also, buying a crib shouldn't be this hard.  Apparently no one in this town sells cribs except for Sears, and they can't get their act together to figure out if they even have them in stock before making me wait a week for delivery.  Unimpressed.

That's it.  Nothing deep from me at the moment.  I think I am going to have to work out a shtick for this blog so I have a reason to post more regularily.  Stay tuned for that.

Goals

For the record,  I don't do New Years resolutions.

I figure that if I need to do something I may as well start whatever it is right away.  That way, when I fail, it spreads the disappointment in myself out throughout the year instead of cramming it all into February and making a really depressing month.  It also make succeeding at something all the nicer because it wasn't forced on me as some kind of socially pressured goal.  It was just me honestly trying to improve myself.

Besides, I can't really think of anything worth resolving that I haven't already had in the back of my head  for the last several years. If I haven't done it by now, it aint gonna happen until I am good and ready.

Oh hey! And I finished that scarf I started last summer! Yay me!  I'm calling that an accomplished goal, even if I never pick up my needles again (which I want too.  Just need more wool and a project).  Like that time I lost 30lbs.  It certainly wasn't all I needed to lose, and I am up 10 of that again, but it was a success dammit! I did however fail miserably at my Goodreads reading challenge for the year.  I read just about 75% of what I wanted too, but I blame that on the baby brain and subsequent baby.

So yeah.  I finished a scarf, read a bunch, and started raising a daughter. I am calling last year a success, despite it's best efforts.
